Help and answers for MyTennisGame on Apple Watch and iPhone.

MyTennisGame is a tennis score and statistics tracker. You log points on your Apple Watch while you play, and the iPhone app shows your match history, the detail of each match, and how your game is going over time.

Getting started

  1. Install MyTennisGame on your iPhone. The Apple Watch app installs alongside it.
  2. On your iPhone, tap the profile button on the Matches screen and set your name.
  3. On your Apple Watch, open MyTennisGame, choose your opponent and tap Start Match.
  4. After each point, tap who won it, then how it ended.
  5. Your match appears on your iPhone as you play.

Scoring a match

Two taps per point

Tap the player who won the point, then how it ended โ€” an ace, a winner, a forced error, an unforced error or a double fault. The list changes to match who was serving.

First and second serve

The button in the scoreboard row switches between first and second serve. Tap it after a fault, before you log the point, so your first-serve percentage stays right.

Undo

Undo in the top left removes the last point, including one that ended a game or a set. While you are choosing how a point ended it becomes Back, which cancels that point instead.

Ending a match early

Stop offers the options a real match needs: call it a draw, decide it on the score as it stands, save it to finish later, record that a player retired, or cancel it entirely. Each one asks you to confirm.

Changing the deciding set

At one set all in a best-of-3 match, Stop โ†’ Match Options lets you switch the decider between a super tie-break and a full set, up until its first point is played.

Frequently asked

My match hasn't appeared on my iPhone.

Matches are sent after every completed set and again when the match ends. Open MyTennisGame on your Apple Watch with your iPhone nearby and give it a moment. If it still has not arrived, open the profile screen on your iPhone and tap Resend all matches from watch.

Can I score a match on my iPhone?

No. Points are logged on the Apple Watch, where you can reach them between points. The iPhone app is a viewer for your history and your statistics.

Does MyTennisGame need an internet connection?

No. Your Apple Watch and iPhone exchange matches directly with each other. When you are online, the iPhone app also keeps a copy of your matches in your iCloud account.

Where is my data, and will I lose it if I change phones?

Your matches are stored on your devices, and if you are signed in to iCloud, the iPhone app keeps a copy in your iCloud account. Install MyTennisGame on a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account and your matches come back on their own. The profile screen shows whether the iCloud backup is on. Without iCloud, restore the new iPhone from a device backup, or install MyTennisGame and tap Resend all matches from watch to bring back the matches still on your Apple Watch.

Does a match show up as a workout?

Yes, if you allow it. Each match is saved to Apple Health as a tennis workout, with heart rate and calories, so it counts towards your rings. You can decline the permission and still score matches normally.

How do I delete a match?

Swipe left on it in the Matches list on your iPhone and tap Delete. It is removed from your iPhone, from iCloud and from your Apple Watch, and cannot be undone.

Which scoring formats are supported?

Best of 3 with a super tie-break, best of 3, best of 5, one set, and single tie-breaks to 7 or 10 points. Choose the format under Options before you start.
